Hi Rob,
Just up the road from me and I didn't know it was on. I haven't heard of a Stathaven Car show before. Is this one that has moved from East Kilbride or similar?
John.

Clive and John, the show was organised by Strathaven round table and this was the first attempt. They are intending making the show the replacement for the Chatelherault car show in Hamilton that has now been abandoned by the council. All proceeds from the show go to local charities. It was a good first attempt, a little ragged around the organisation but they will use the experience to improve next year, well worth supporting.

Hi Rob,
Thought it might have been a replacement for that show as it had jumped about a bit. Shows seem to be getting a little few and far between down in Ayrshire nowadays. The larger ones like Culzean have all but disappeared.

Does anyone know what has happened to the Culzean show?

Hi Alex,
I was told that a few years ago a new manager took over and started to demand larger portions of the gate money from shows. A lot of shows not just car shows seemed to be driven away by this new approach and for at least one year the culzean car show moved to Eglington park. Members of the East Ayrhire Car Club that ran the show will know the ins and outs of it. Anyway the goings on ruined it for eveyone and the National Trust I would imagine lost a lot of money out of it. I had heard this "manager" moved on. The Auto Classica wont happen again due to Culzean demanding horrendous amounts of money per field used and supposedly using there own people to take gate money. This was very lapse and as such the show organisers didn't stand a chance of getting beyond what was due to Culzean by the end of it.
Pity with all these goings on because it was always a show I made sure to attend.
Got another cobra yet? Saw your face at Stoneleigh I think.
John.

Remember kettle is always on at my house if you are passing. Especially if you want some additional encouragement to get into one again.
Cheers.

Hi Rob,
Thanks for that, I really had to sell the car as we were moving to a house without a garage and after I sold it, the sale fell through and we ended up with a house with a 50ft x 30ft garage:-x, sods law eh,

I am pleased the new owners are happy with it as I put a lot of work into it, I nearly sold it to Oojar on here but my brother in law pestered me to buy it, only to sell it for a profit:(, if you are reading this Oojar I wish you had got it mate, and in answer to your next question No I dont talk to him now!!.

I am now rebuilding a 1915 Model T Ford sad eh, but I will be in the market for another Cobra when I finish this car;).

Kind Regards.

Alfie

Just been advised that I won Car of the Show !! :o :D:D

That'll teach me to leave early, also interesting to note that the people's choice was a Robin Hood. There were around 300 cars on the day with some fantastic cars on show so I am dead chuffed.

Apparantly it was the hardtop that caught the eye of the judges ;-)
