Hi there,

Thinking of tackling my brake pipes in the near future.

Is there anyone in the North Wiltshire/South Gloucestershire/Bristol/Bath area that would be willing to lend a brake pipe flaring tool at all?

Failing that, does anyone have any recommendations where I could hire one please?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,
probably not worth renting, they're cheap enough to buy new, and always handy : Laser 2943 Flaring Tool Kit - Machine Mart (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/laser-2943-flaring-tool-kit)

Have to agree, buying a kit is probably cheaper than the fuel to borrow one

10PC DOUBLE PIPE FLARING TOOL KIT MECHANIC BRAKE DIES | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10PC-DOUBLE-PIPE-FLARING-TOOL-KIT-MECHANIC-BRAKE-DIES-/400254941359?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item5d310db8af)

Thanks for the advice.

All the ones I'd seen before were into 3 figures, but the ones on the links are much more reasonable.

I think I'll have a bit of retail therapy later...

Ive had one of the cheap ones for years and done quite a few brake pipes with them, but as I mentioned elsewhere, its important to get the cut end dead square or you'll get a crap joint and probably break the pin.

Like realywheely says, square ends, so use a pipe cutter all the time.
