Hello all,

last Saturday I finally did what I wanted to, and put a deposit on a pilgrim sumo with a Chevy 5.7 in it.

i have wanted a cobra replica for as long as I can remember and had first refusal on one 10 years ago but circumstances prevented me buying it.

The only issue seems to be getting the insurance - I have two quotes which I could live with, but wonder if you would like to make some recommendations - I had hoped there was an insurance thread but can't see it.

Thanks in advance.

Try Hagerty Insurance based at Silverstone. Very easy to deal with and seem to have a genuine interest in classic/kit cars at a very reasonable premium.

I seem to recall that Hagerty only want to insure older cars (over 20 years??) and not brand new replicas. Backford Bloor, on the Wirral, seem to get the best reviews and specialise in our type of cars. Adrian Flux seem to get mixed reviews. There will be more suggestions coming along I'm sure.

If the car you have is age related registered? You will be fine with Hagerty.
It's the new registration ones they don't like.

Would suggest you get a quote from flux and see if bloors can get close to it.
I have used bloors and flux but wouldn't use flux again. Hagerty quote on my 1983 registered sumo was nearly double any other quote I got.

Ain't it strange? in my case Hagerty beat all comers on my Contemporary.

Yes, after reading the feedback hagerty get here, I was surprised at the difference.
Still the only thing to do is shop around, loyalty counts for very little in insurance

Interesting - when I spoke to the Hagerty bloke at Tatton Park car show he wasn't interested in a 'B' plate cobra - too new!
Worth Newbie checking with them though - but it will be a while, eh, he has just ordered the bits.......

As no one has mentioned Heritage yet i will, gave me the cheapest quote then (6yrs ago), and still the case now, £138, Hagerty wanted over £600 for exactly the same insurance!, greedy 'F'ers:

Indeed, sounds better than my interpretation.

Hegarty's quote was cheapest for me last year, and it actually went down this year. Can't complain about that !

I'm with Hagarty and pay around the £200 mark so that is the sort of figure you will be getting with luck.
