View Full Version : My Cobra Build

03-11-13, 02:27 PM
After the Blyton weekend and factory visits Last month I've ordered my Chassis this week, due in March, I was supposed to wait until the foundations of the garage extension were dug but keen to get things moving (not like Harrogate Planning Office) I bought my donor parts and started.......

below is a link of how things are progressing and I'll add photos to the folder as and when.......

Anybody else building a GD and or in early stages, advise welcome

I take it that is work and that you're not planning on extending that garage :-)

did you get the porn vid from Andy? It's a bit dated but is a good run through the build sequence.

exciting times ;-)

Yes that's work, I can do the strip down, clean and store parts out of sight, also keeps most of the crap away from the house. Got the video from Andy.......but the background music

Looking good Keith. How comes you went for the red bushes? I think the shore hardness is higher than the yellow ones which are better suited for road use?

31-12-13, 05:08 PM
Hi Vikash, I got them from Pete Jones, I mentioned that I would be doing a few track days so maybe that's why he sent the polyrace instead of the polysport? Good point though and one which I will investigate.

02-03-14, 09:18 PM
All sandblasted, they are now sat at the platers for Zinc/yellow passivate, I hope to pick them up next week before I go on holiday to spoil the Mrs to get in the good books ready for the garage to be built and the chassis arriving.

Just realised I've got the front damper brackets blasted which I won't be using :(

Setting the chassis centre line from lower wishbone pivot points

Straight edges, line, spirit levels and plump bobs, the good old fashion way.
Checking the thrust line very pleased and lucky it turned out spot on! The toe over 2.4 meters = 7mm (0.167 deg) which is a nags do-dar over 10 minuets another pleasing result :)
