... and text without pictures

Hi y’all,

Well then. Due to a pleasant couple of weeks trundling along the highways and byways of Arizona and Nevada in a 31 feet long mega RV, this newsletter is unusually tardy in its appearance in your Inbox.
However, although we have been away from email, phone signals and progressive music radio for a while, now is the time to write this (so that you receive it before Sunday’s meet!)
It seems like an age ago but last month’s meet was a bit of an event in respect of the weather. We set out for The George Inn, Cavendish with some blue sky ahead and therefore left the roof off the Dax. However, not far up the road, the skies darkened and became very threatening. Steve took the view that it wasn’t going to get any better so we pulled into a closed petrol station and used the cover of their canopy to put up the roof – fortunately it was still neatly folded in the boot. So, with creaking windscreen wipers and hammering rain, we continued our journey to Cavendish. As did three other cobras - as seen in the photos. So we all sat down to a superb lunch, and of course the weather cleared. So the later ‘photo shoot’ was accomplished without wet weather gear, both for us and the cars.

Some of you may well have made your way down to the Goodwood Revival last weekend. I know Andy Soar had his trade stand there again and, by all accounts, the weather behaved. No reports have been forthcoming so we can use our imagination. The icing on the cake was the appearance of the Canadian Lancaster ‘Vera’ along with our own BBMF’s Lancaster ‘Thumper’. It may be the last chance to see a pair of Lancasters flying together. We missed it but we were at the Clacton Air Show last month and saw them there – truly amazing.

…..and so, to this month’s meet on Sunday 21st September @ 12:00.
As recommended by Colin Hendry (and previously posted in last month’s newsletter). We are off to The Bridge Inn, 2 Fakenham Rd, Lenwade, Norfolk NR9 5SE The Bridge Inn at Lenwade: Fishing Holidays Norfolk | The Bridge Inn Lenwade (http://www.bridgeinnlenwade.co.uk/) and 01603 872248.
