How can it be a 1952 car on an A suffix plate??

Well Tony, they do not have the V5 or registration documents of any kind. DVLA car check has no records so it's anyone's guess why it has that number on it!

On the Road Tax check site it comes up as a AC (Electric) First reg April 1952, so the registration does seem to belong to the car even although it is a 1963 A suffix.

I believe that the suffix system was introduced part way through the model year (1963?) so there were plenty of 'spare' numbers that year. These were issued as by default for imports, re-registrations rather like the Q plates that came later. Of course I may be talking complete bolleaux.

nice car, original plate would be 3 letters, three numbers I assume, now long since sold off as a private plate.

i was quite surprised to see that even in good drivable condition the AC 2 litre Coupes only sell for around £10-12,000.

I think that given the condition of the one in the advert, even if bought for £3000, the restoration costs could easily exceed the value of the finished car. However who knows what it could be worth in 20 years time, might be worth a gamble.
