Hi guys do you know where I can find the chassis vin number on my cobra
Is it stampted originally from factory ? or did they need to be given them from the dvla once changed over from the donner ?
cheers Doug

You will need to tell us what make of kit you have.
GD's are stamped on the chassis, usually in the front cross members.
Cheers.

Hi
I think it was built pre 88 srv8 and registered as xj12 ''southern road craft''

Some of the older built cars didn't have chassis numbers and ran on the donor car's not sure how Sothern Road craft did it back then prior to the sva being introduced.

Would there still not have to be a plate or stamping to match what is seen in the V5 ?

Surely the chassis number is printed on the V5? Or are you trying to match up the number on the V5 to the actual car?

I would suspect that if the V5 form is seen to be a "Southern Road Craft" XJ12 then it would have to be the donor car VIN otherwise DVLA would not have recognised it ?

So am i right to think that southern road craft didn't stamp there chassis with there own vin number, if the doner car was registered on the docs (doner chassis number)

I can't answer for them but when I bought my AK 14 years ago they didn't stamp them back then as it was not required instead I had a plate to secure to the bulkhead.

My SR chassis had its chassis number stamped in the middle of the topside on front crossmember that the top wishbones fit to.
My chassis was probably a early to mid nineties(not sure when SR stopped producing-1995 possibly?)
