... and with just the words (missing the photo of the Shanghai Old Shoe Confusion etc) -

Hi to you all. Once again, we were playing away for the March meet so were not able to stretch the legs of the black beast, who is still languishing in the garage.
Instead, we hopped on a Boeing and went to visit Shanghai. Apart from the obvious language barrier, we found the city to be a very forward looking, modern and busy place, with a nod to its history with some lovely old buildings and temples.
Steve reports that the local beer is, mostly, Tsingtao (as available at a Chinese restaurant near you), and is not worth the 11 hour flight to travel to its source. However, the food, especially from the local cafes and street food vendors, was excellent. Anyone fancy ‘Old Shanghai Shoe Confusion’ or ‘Wild Bracken of Burning Flesh’ – obviously lost in translation. Thank goodness for illustrated menus.

So, once more, for March’s meet at The Olde Windmill Inn, Great Cressingham, our trusty roving reporter, Guy Beston has provided some notes and photographs, thanks again Guy. Over to Guy –
“Pheasant! B***dy Pheasants! Sunday dawned rather grey actually but improved as the day progressed.
So it was rather a cool but dry drive to the "The Olde Windmill Inn" at Gt Cressingham, conditions improved for a splendid
drive through the Suffolk and Norfolk countryside. As you will know there are quite a few county roads which have long straight sections with no side roads when "enthusiastic driving" is allowed - well that is until a beady eyed Pheasant popped his head out of the bushes, gives you a good long stare and then decides that when you are 20 yards from him that is the best time to fly into the middle of the road!
Needless to say severe avoiding action was required and much testing of the new Greenstuff brake pads to avoid a smashed windscreen or damaged paintwork. This happened twice on the way to the pub and a third time on the way home.
Dear reader you have been warned!
Anyway the pub when I got there was starting to get busy for a lunchtime service. I don't think I have seen a pub with so many spirit optic dispensers behind the bar and so many little rooms with gave the pub a feel of a rabbit warren. The Ghostship Shandy and the Roast beef were very good.
What is wrong with the picture of the Blue Cobra in the carpark? Answer - it's the only one there.
I arrived just after 12.30 ordered food and a drink and waited, food turned up and was very much enjoyed - I waited some more and then threw in the towel at 1.15 to make my date with the third Pheasant.
Never mind it was a great drive on a bright (eventually) sunny day in my favourite car. Hope to see more people new month”.

Of course, March’s meet also coincided with the Goodwood 74th Members Meeting, so we suspect some were at that event. Report please anyone?

…..and so, to this month’s meet on Sunday 17th April @ 12:00. We are in the area of East Norfolk this month.
Again, the font of all knowledge that is the CAMRA guide (2015 edition) has been consulted. How about The Crown, Lower Street, Gissing, near Diss, Norfolk, IP22 5UJ
http://www.gissingcrown.co.uk/ and 01379 677718.
Sadly, we are away again (light weights) for this meet, so would some responsible individual liaise with the pub and provide us with a meet report afterwards? Thanks very much.

The CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2015 has been well thumbed – the 2016 edition is available on Amazon, apparently. We’ll continue to populate the ‘3rd Sunday’ calendar with interesting pubs to visit in our usual ‘On Tour’ format.
