What size bolts are used to fasten the half circle plate that fits to the bottom front edge of the 77 gearbox? As usual all help gratefully recieved.
I'll be glad when work calms down and the weather improves so i can get back to work on the cobra :tu

Rover manual says "6mm x 16mm setscrew".

Set at 10Nm (7lbf ft)

TonyM,

Me too. I thought they were a UNF size, possibly 1/4" (6.35mm)
(6mm = 1mm pitch, 1/4" = 0.0.3571" pitch (40thou=1mm))

I think its because at that size the metric thread is very fine which looks a lot like the UNF thread.

Anyway, Rover bible says 6mm x 16mm, as stated previously.

The book is right,The threads in the Bellhousing are Metric but the Thru bolts to the engine and all the engine threads are UNC and UNF.I had to helicoil my slave cylinder mount threads coz I assumed they were 5/16"UNC and they are M8,Beware.

I'm not sure if you need one for SVA but it would probably be wise to get one to stop a load of crap getting into the bell housing, unfortunately they can be hard to find (except on e-bay) :tu
