Can anyone tell me how to adjust the steering rack on my 1991 Dax ?

I believe that it is a modified Triumph 2000 rack (as per attached files - hopefully). There is a 9/16th bolt in the middle of a large (1 3/4 or so ?) nut at the rear of the rack directly below where the coulmn enters the rack. I can turn the bolt fairly easily and it seems to make little difference to the stiffness of the rack, even at extremes of lock.

Thanks,

Wires

Try a web search of Triumph forums I'll be surprised if you can't find what you need there somewhere. :)

Your rack is Dolomite not 2000. The small nut is to pack the rack with grease and retain the spring that is inside. The big nut is the adjuster. if you remove it, you will find shims. You use these to set up the rack. If it is knackered, you are better off getting a new one from Rimmers and having it modified by a competent engineering company. Cheers. Mark.
