View Full Version : Remote brake fluid reservoir & master cylinder

To all,

Yet another round of questions:
1. Is there such a thing as a "Remote Brake Fluid Reservoir" for the Dax?
2. Is the master cylinder a standard Jag component?
Or have Dax been tinkering again? (Sorry Dax. . . )

Blue skies,

Hi Pat,

1. Yes - Dax use the Jag item and then tap it for a 3rd pipe to use on the clutch.
2. If I remeber correctly it is a Ford item with adapters to remove the piggy back reservoir and provide feeds from the remote reservoir.

I pretty sure that Dax use a slightly modified MK5 Escort master cylinder and servo.
As Michael said the remote reservoir feeds the two inlets to the master cylinder and also the clutch master.

Perhaps somebody will recognise the offending items in the attached photos.

Alas, it looks like the master cylinder has now decided to give up.
Oh, what next???

And I thought land rovers were high maintenance. . .

Kind regards,

Hi Pat, the bad news is that you have got a Marina pedal box on your car and I am told that the rebuild kits for the brake master are getting nearly imposable to get hold of and I cant give you any suggestions for a replacement. There has recently been a thread on the subject though so you might be able to find it or hopefully they might read this, I think it was something like a Suzuki master and ?? can't remember the rest.

Roy who is the other AK owner in Sweden told me that he had no problems finding a rebuild kit for the Marina master cylinder. Funny if they are easy to find here in Sweden (where we have no Marinas) and hard to find in the UK (where, I guess, there has to be loads of them). :p

All or most of the Marinas and Itals have gone to the big scrap yard in the sky, (best place for them I reckon).

Hi Pat.
I have an AK with a Marina/Ital pedal box master set up. As said the marina master is a deadun, but I had mine remanufactured by Past Parts, not overly cheap but better than redoing the whole shebang

I've used Past Parts too they're excellent when you need parts that no one else has.
