Re: Why I don't do "Track Days"!!!!

Please dont think that all track days are like this!!!

I wouldnt go out with that load of maniacs in your car - let alone mine!!!!!

A well organised track day - like Evlington a couple of years ago is the only way - its great fun.

The only incidents I've seen is with armco and that the drivers fault.
Cheers Clive

Very very few and far between. I have done countless track days without a problem, one incident doesn't make them anymore dangerous than driving on normal roads.

Not at Castle Combe, they are all boy racers.

Last time I was there, an M3 got stuffed in the barrier, not his fault either.

At Combe, with all the Muppets and Boy Racers, it's all too frequent.

After saying that junior is building a 106, with moi forking out for half!!!!

Re: Why I don't do "Track Days"!!!!

I have done a few track days as well as some proper coaching.

I have found the best times can be had, either where you get enough people to go that, you can book the whole thing out, or a corporate day for example where you use thier cars and its a little more civilised.

I think the problem with the 'bring your own car' days, is that you then have the boy racers who think they are alright as they are on a track, and are just trying to get the absolute maximum out of their car 100% of the time, rather than actually trying to develop their skills and learn to control the car a little better.

I havent seen many bad bumps, and most have been from people overcooking it on the straights and making a beeline for the nearest section of Armco or grassy bank.....generall sawing at the wheel like this...:drive: .....but their normally not smiling.

Thats why airfield days are soooo much safer.

However given the number of trackdays throughout the year and the number of accidents, the percentage is very very low.
