Bad day.

Wiper drive shaft isn't long enough to reach second drive, I have three rear over riders and one front over rider. Got a really cheap Sierra steering wheel except its a post '87 on an adjustable column, not sure I can use it.

Dax have been great again they'll replace the drive shaft and when they have some front overriders they'll swap that over too.

Doh!

I have a Sierra steering wheel that is for the early type with the square hazard warning light. The steering column is the type with the 6 sided hex shape fitting.

If you fancy collecting it let me know or I will try to post it to you if you cover the cost.

Is it the wiper drive cable that is too short or the copper tubes? I fitted a new gear that was supplied by Dax and they also supplied a longer cable. Good job they did as the other one would have been too short.

Overrider's a pain though. Hopefully it won't be too long before they get new ones.

Cheers Craig,

Dorkings' quite a nice drive, if that's OK I'll collect, let me know when it's convenient.

Yes it is the wiper drive cable, Dax say they should have supplied a longer one.

I don't fancy drilling and tapping the over rider myself so I'll wait for Dax, it's not a show stopper.

That's what mine looked like Andi before I changed it for the Dax supplied longer one.

Hi Andi.
I have never used the longer worm gear. I have always shortened the tube that fits between the wiper motor and the first wheelbox as it always seemed too long.
The reason the wiper kit comes with the shorter worm gear initially is because the wiper kit they supply is an "Off the shelf" item for a Caterham.

How do you fix the wiper motor in place Dave?

Always wondered what the proper way to do it was.

Hmm, that's a good idea I'll check the measurements tomorrow. I guess the wiper motor is just positioned further along the scuttle bar.

I spent today getting the bonnet hinge in place.

With the Dax bracket??? (flat plate with 2 clamps welded to it)

Must have changed since mine was made then.

I was supplied a flat plate and one large clamp to go over the motor. I used exhaust clamps to clamp it to the scuttle hoop tube.
