Why was the pit lane exit closed?
They come out onto the track separated from the other cars by the white line that they are not allowed to cross.
I've seen the pit lane closed at the other end, but they still come in, just get penalised for it.
Never seen anyone stop at the exit before......after all, it's not a track day is it?

It was because the safety car and the snake of cars after the SC were going past the pits.

Didn't notice the gap to the left, but I did see 2 cars stopped at a red light and if you're going to hit one you may as well make it your main rival.

F1, boring.
TT totaly mad, heroes? (not sure about the mental status of riders).
British touring cars, all premadonnas (but exciting to watch)
World rally, becoming a bit too high tec and money orientated.

Where has all the fighting tooth and nail and waving of fists gone. Bring on some decent footage of Surtees or Hopkirk spitting on the floor at Brands Hatch.

Just me trying to simplify things in my own mind. I would rather support any kind of motor racing than have none. They all have earned their drives wether we think they are good or not. The likes of myself couldn't even start to understand just how special one needs to be to race any of these machines.

LOL yep Dave its all relative I guess, and the TT is a unique event that can only be seen to be fully appreciated! I dont decry the F1 drivers, but I do wonder where dozy beggars like the originator of this thread get off slagging drivers off who make a mistake in the heat of competition?? Classic racing incident, no more, no less.

Steve
With you on this.
There are people out there who can do stuff with motorised vehicles that beg belief.
I am one of these number.

I can stall any vehicle, at any time and nobody nows when. But having said that it's normally when oggling women at traffic lights without the missus noticing, the lights change and hey presto the next thing ya' now the car has lurched to a stop and I get a smack round the back of the head. Classic racing incident LOL

I'll have to remember the term 'racing incident' Dave - didn't know it encompassed such a broad array of unfortunate occurrences!!

hes been racing since he was 8 yrs old, been in mercedes pocket for most of that time, he has experience racing in all these circuits, he made a mistake which he admited, the press hype it up as allways make it into something sinister, but at the end of the day hamilton is a muppet for not noticing the red lights or the two cars blocking his exit. He obviously left his split second reactions with the pit crew. a silly mistake that he has been punished for ( a bit harsh 10 places IMO ), and hopefully he can give an 'up yours' to the FIA and win next race
