Whipping tolerance

Lets see what the view count on this one is!!

Anyway, it is a serious question. I need to make a fitted mat for my porch (sadly I have spelt that correctly) and am going to make it from a carpet off cut and then have it whipped. Any idea how much space I should leave at the edges for the whipping?

Ta.

Shouldn't this thread be in the Regional section?

Jonny, the mats I've had done before came back about 3mm bigger on each edge I think. Not that precision was an issue at the time.

If it is going to be bound with thread I would say hardly anything as the machine binds it so tightly. It will only increase in size by the thickness of the thread. But presumably it's not going to be a concourse porch? It's great to watch it being done though-it's so quick!

just cut it to size and leave the thicknes of your stanley knife blade all round the thread takes up the difference, once the overlocking is complete.Dave B .
