| Please prove me wrong! I don’t personally believe it is possible to get a road Cobra to do 0-60mph in much under 4 seconds. If you know it is then I would love to know both the 0-60mph and 0-100mph times. I’m not bothered about engine details etc, just whether or not it is a physical possibility while still retaining a modern day UK road worthy spec. Times with slicks will be counted, but I would also like times without if possible. This is important information to me and as an incentive, if being recognised as the fastest Cobra owner wasn’t enough }>, I’ll give a Cobra related prize to the person who can prove the fastest times under 3.5 sec for 0-60, whether or not they own the car. Please feel free to wonder off the topic and argue among yourself as much as you want, as I believe that is the best way to get to the really facts and it attracts more attention to the topic. Come on, let see some facts on what really matters when it comes to sports cars. Respectfully, Andy http://www.agsite.co.uk/ag/andy-win.gif |

| RE: Please prove me wrong! Getting to pobably around 4 seconds would be relatively easy I would think given the correct gearing and matched parts. The same engine with an alloy flywheel would probably get close to 3.5 secs but would be a pig to drive. Given the brass anybody reasonably knowledgeable could get a cobra down to those sorts of times probably without a supercharger, hell Kenny Coleman does it in his sleep. I would probably go a stage further and say I coul get a 2.2 BDA also close to that time. The beauty about Robs machine is that depending on the boost he wants to run he can either have a nice car to drive or an evil son of a bitch. Mike. |

| RE: Please prove me wrong! Andy Had mine on the rolling road today, 370bhp, 0-60 in 2 seconds, 0-100 and back in 8.5 seconds, 35 miles to the gallon, with wind wings and visors open to 35 degrees and cap on backwards. Mike PS. Don't forget to take of your wheel spinners and wear sun glasses.

| RE: Please prove me wrong! Check out this URL, it takes you to a similar thread in the 'clubcobra' site. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...&highlight=060 I admit to being amazed at some of the performance figures mentioned on this site but you have to consider that aerodynamics are having a MUCH smaller impact at low speeds and that as long as your have sufficient HP, torque and traction you should be fine. I seem to remember from my clubcobra days that there is a utility much like the tyre and transmission one on this site that allows you to input several variables and will give an approximate ET for the quarter mile. THis should in turn give very approximate 0-60 times. Obviously chassis flexing etc will impact performance but it does give a rough guide. If I find it I will post it to the useful files section. I haven't seen Rob's Cobra but from what I have heard, and comparing it to the cars spoken about in the attached thread I have no problem with 0-60 3.1 secs. A Diablo does the standing quarter in @13 secs I believe and that has a 0-60 in @4secs so using basic maths Rob's 10 sec quarter mile equates to a far lower 0-60. The other thing to note is that each 10th of a second improvement costs a hell of a lot more the faster you get!! Paul

| RE: Please prove me wrong! Thank you ‘pcoghlan’, a very interesting link. Some of the Americans run some serious hardware. Fortunately for them, they can go further and still keep their cars street legal than we can here. Couldn’t find someone hitting 3.1 so Robert could still be the fastest, could it be that the fastest street Cobra is in the UK ‘miket’ thanks, but I think I would have received a more educated input from my lunch before it was turned into a pie. Still interested if anyone has any more information. Andy http://www.agsite.co.uk/ag/andy-win.gif |

Secondly, the car at the time wasn't strictly road legal as plod might have had an issue with the slicks. Robert Forum Admin http://www.cobraclub.com/flags/UK.gif
