Interesting. Yes, they are a total pain to get out. I have to take the fuel tank out of mine too. None of it easy without a decent lift. All heavy too.

What do compression gauge numbers mean?
14.7 psi is atmospheric pressure. It is added to gauge pressure to find the actual pressure.
