    Thermostat housing change

Hi, can anyone tell me if I have to swap my brand new thermostat housing on SBC, with only one outlet, for the Rip off Dax one, which I think has two outlets?

There must be an alternative, surely!!
    Cheers, John.

There are others available but you'll probably find they will be pretty close to the price of the Dax one and have a lot less "Bling".
You might get away with either tapping into the inlet manifold or utilising one of the existing outlets that are usually used for the heaters.

    Re: Thermostat housing change

    Hi Madjohnny

I too don't want to change the nice chrome thermostat housing that was supplied with my engine. What I was going to do was have a piece of 8mm stainless tube Tig welded into the top stainless hose between the thermostat housing and radiator.
I guess this pipes main purpose is to release air into the expansion tank during filling of the system with water so as the highest part of my system is the top hose I thought I would put it there but keep it close as possible to the thermostat housing to cut down on the length of pipe back to the expansion tank.
Of course this will only work if you decide to use the stainless tube from dax with silicone elbows connecting both ends. If you go all the way with silicone tube then I think demon tweeks do an in-line aluminium sleeve with a thread coming out at 90 degrees where a pipe fitting could be screwed in.

    Craig.

Dax Tojeiro, + 355 Chevy + Tremec box = In storage and possibly for sale, make an offer...
DB Hardtop still in the garage.
Polishes to date = On hold.

    Madjohnny,
I have already done just as Craig describes above except I got a piece of stainless tube made up rather than tap into the Dax one. It all seems to work very well. Don't have any piccies to hand but shout if you want one and I'll mail it.
    Cheers,
    Kevin......

    Re: Thermostat housing change

Thanks Dave, Kev & Craig I think that seems a more sensible idea, I can always find something else to spend £67.75 + VAT on.

Kev, pretty sure I know what you and Craig mean but a piccy would be graet. :thumb:
