MK Escort 5 Servo dimensions

Hi guys just wodered if anybody had the dimensions of the MK5 Escort Servo.
The dimension I require is from the bulkhead ( back of the Servo) to the furthermost part of the brake master cylinder.
The measurement that I have is approx 8 inches. My problem is the gap from the bulkhead to inner wing is also 8 inches. The passenger side is about 9.1/4 inches but I dont want to convert the car to a left hand drive just to get the servo in.
I have ally lined bulkhead and wing but the ally is tight up against the fibreglass on the bulkhead and also the inner wing.
If the servo I have bought is the correct servo with approx 8 inch projection from the bulkhead then it appears that I am going to have to cut the inner wing to insert the servo.
Has anybody else had this problem?

Ive decided that even I cant be this stupid and there must be something wrong.

Advice is welcome please as Im gonna have to hit the beer again!!

Yours in eager anticipation

Re: MK Escort 5 Servo dimensions

I've measured mine for you but as it's already fitted it's difficult to get it entirely accurate. The Servo projecting 80mm from the bulkhead with the brake cylinder adding a further 125mm. A total therefore of 205mm. This left a clearance of about 20mm to the inner wing.

When I first tried to fit them I preassembled the servo and master cylinder and then tried to fit them into the car but found I didn't have enough clearance to do this. Next I fitted the servo and still found I could get the brake master cylinder passed the wing to line up. In the end I left everything unbolted and managed to jiggle them (technical term!!) into position before tightening it all up.

Regards

SJ

Re: MK Escort 5 Servo dimensions

SJ Thank you for taking the time to measure the servo I appreciate that.
You are lucky to have the 20mm gap, Im afraid I dont have that luxury as the servo is the same size as the gap between bulkhead and wing. Im nipping into Dax tomorrow to show them the photo and ask for advice.
Even if my servo was a Russian Gymanastics champian It wouldnt fit, looks like an inner wing cut and rebond session.
I expected problems but this is an unforeseen calamity to work through.
Once again
Thanks

Re: MK Escort 5 Servo dimensions

Markieboy, mine is fractionally under 8" from the rear of the servo to the front of the master cylinder.

You might want to check but I was under the impression the servo/master cyl. were off a Mk 4 escort. Don't know if this helps or not.

Re: MK Escort 5 Servo dimensions

John, Thanks for the info, its now fitted with a bit of heave ho. The inner wing had slipped whilst on the jig, the bottom edge was in the correct position but the top has moved.
I took pictures into Dax yesterday to show them, and they were really helpful and offered to cut and re fabricate into the correct position. Trouble is im 80 miles away. The top part of the wing was the offending item being 25-30mm out.
I thought I was going mad or just doomed but thats another hurdle hurdled!!!
Fit the body time now!!!
