exhaust!

hi,
i have a 351w and have purchased a complete exhaust system from dax, ok so far, now is it me or do the headers not fit very well?
as far as i can see the only way i am going to get these to fit is to heat them up and carry out some mods, and some pretty heavy bending!
is this a common thing? or am i being a numbnut?
thanks
in advance for any help!
shiney

Re: exhaust!

Hi Shiney,
The headers from Dax are made for a 302 (I think or the Cleveland variant) and the 351w deck height is higher.

Perhaps you only have to modify it slightly by a welder ??

At the moment someone is making custom headers for me...

Re: exhaust!

ah! that would explain it, luckily i am sorrounded by more equipment than you could shake a stick at so it's not a problem, it's just nice to know there is a reason for it!

Re: exhaust!

Hi Colin,
Another question to you.
Did you try to close the bonnet with the airfilter installed on your 351w ?
Does it fit ?
Regards,
Andy

Re: exhaust!

Hi Shiney.
Have you spoke to Peter at Dax regarding this, it might save you altering something that might need exchanging for the right part.

Just a thought.

Re: exhaust!

hi Andy,
yep bonnet don't fit, but i have found a way around that one!
and the exhausts didn't fit because there isn't enough room between the bulkheads, but there is now!
all the best

Re: exhaust!

hi Dave, problem sorted, with a bit of bending and cutting away and reforming about 3" either side of the engine, that was the problem not enough room between the bulkheads!
but all is ok now and the engine bay is back in primer.
all the best
colin
