Re: Power Steering

Let’s see if I understand the EPAS.

-DAX use the Opel Corsa B
-Normally this unit is linked with the ECU that controls the injection of the car and other systems.
-This EPAS can work stand alone.
-This unit has standard an integrated “Control Unit”
-The unit has the next connections: Live, Earth, Live with ign. on and a potentiometer.
-The potentiometer is the trick to adjust the amount of assist.

So, if I buy one second had unit and put the potentiometer, at the right place, I am done?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards,

DAX say that they 'Pigggyback' the control and power units. There are several modifications they do to make it work. Perhaps a call to Gary or Peter would tell you what the changes are. I can send you a copy of the diagram and instructions that came with the unit if that helps?

Cheers

I think you will stick to the heavy steering at that price, eh Chris.

Makes AK's aftermarket fitted power steering excellent value for money. :thumb: :thumb:

That was about 2yrs ago, so prices might have gone up. :thumb:

Re: Power Steering

Neil, the Pug rack in question is from a 309 GTi but it needs to shortened and the arms need to be modified too to match the Jaguar track rod ends.
This is like a manual rack with a sort of external assistor ram, and it can be driven by a remote electric PAS pump. Also a Pug/ citroen part. :thumb:

Re: Power Steering

hi kev
thanks for that ,sounds as though the rack is very similar to the one on my pug 405 diesel...!! an external ram is fitted to this too.....a belt driven pump is used here though (probably of no consequence which is used i suspect?possibly more down to what you can get away with on space...!) obviously an easy swap by the sound of it .......
well we can all hope...!!
cheers

Re: Power Steering

a lot of the peugeot and citreon racks are similair, basically a manual rack with a hydraulic ram affixed to the outside of the casing so you can cut and weld the casing without much difficulty, Also there are a lot of citroens that use an electric pump for the power steeering fluid,
