Jaguar 4 speed manual box with electric overdrive?

Not realy a technical problem but wasnt sure where to post it..

Any idea how much a jaguar 4 speed manual gearbox with electric overdrive is worth?

I'm changing the box to a 5 speed manual and will be selling this one, It's done 7000 miles since the box was rebuilt and is in perfect working order

My guess is that it's only worth a couple of hundred quid but I would advertise in a Jaguar specialist forum that's where you'll get the best price.
I doubt most Cobrateers will be interested in it for the same reason you are changing it.

Best of luck with the sale. :thumb:

Depends if its a early moss no syncro or a later compact all syncro the latter being worth the most to the Dtype boys but even they are using modern 5 speeds now! But the if you still got jag bellhousing and clutch fork and slave cyl that could be worth a couple of hundred £££ on its own.

Thanks Guys,
How can i tell if it's the moss or all syncro box?.. Saddly i'll be using the bell housing and possibly the slave cylinder for the new box

Re: Jaguar 4 speed manual box with electric overdrive?

There is a way to id the two with the correct id charts but i have no access to that infomation. But normally visually the best way is by the length of the tailshaft of the overdrive unit, basically the older moss box has a long tail shaft and housing on the overdrive unit and the all syncro box has a short tailshaft and housing commonly know as a compact type A overdrive.
I would guess you have a later type gearbox because im sure your not double de-clutching to select first gear which is always needed on the earlier moss type boxes.
Id advertise it on the jag driver club web site for £200 someone will want it. I still got one under my bench thats been there for years but never advertised it.
