Dax heater

Question for DB(or anyone else), Dave I have been determined to not fit a heater and use a heated screen from Dave Shrubsole when they are available, I may have had a change of heart and after messing about with some bits of a spitfire heater and working out the cost of recon items vents etc etc, I may do the unthinkable and order a Dax heater, my Q is as I have chopped the footwell to give clearance for the headers do you see a problem with the fitting of the Dax item? I believe it mounts up under the Passenger footwell. Thanks Dave

Just on another note, when the spitfire unit is fitted, has anyone a simple diagram with the components and the relevant hoses/connections shown in relation to each other thanks

Re: Dax heater

Hi Dave.
It is a while since i have seen a Spitfire heater, is is a bit like a telephone directory with a fan strapped on one of the front cover?
If so then when i fitted them i used to put them directly behind the dash with the longest edges top and bottom and the fan towards the clocks.....................I think!...................

.............Well, it was about 12 years ago.

........................Or am i talking about a Reliant Robin heater........Oh dear by brain is melting

Re: Dax heater

Thanks Dave/Wilf, on the fitting of the setup, I was going to fit the heater and a control valve (cable operated) for when I need the heat, presumeably I can have the water circulation bypassing the heater and then open the valve as/when required? just trying to get my head around the circuit needed. Dave

Re: Dax heater

Mikey, could I be the first in line for an option on the heater? But first can you answer some questions for me, First why you selling, is it in good working order and condition and most import does it actually give you a good blast of hot air, I have a VW Polo one in mine and I really want something that blasts out the hot air> Dave you must have fitted loads of Dax ones, are they any good? , cheers, Simon

Re: Dax heater

I think that because of the mods made to the Polo heater in mine to make it fit behind the Dax dashboard it does not work anyway near as well as in your AK because I seem to remember that in the AK the instillation is designed for fitment of a Polo heater, or am I wrong? Still my home bodged Polo one does not give me the blast and heat that I want and it seems to flow water well and has two speeds so I thought I could try something else, cheers for the thoughts though, cheers, Simon
