Front and Rear Overriders

What distance should these be spaced away from the body? Is there a standard distance or is it just personal preference?

Also on the front ones I'm planning to screw the threaded bar in tight to the overrider then add the steel tube and use a nut either side of the chassis bracket to fix it. Is this correct or should I use another nut behind the overrider to secure the threaded bar in the back?

Ta

Re: Front and Rear Overriders

I have fitted the front overiders by threading the bar all the way in to the overider, and then slid the stainless tube over the top. I then used to 2 nuts behine each of the chassis horns for added security. As far as a gap is concerned, my gap for the front is just less then finger distance. About 3/4 of an inch. I then did the same fro the rear. How are you marking your front holes? My advice is to ring Dax and ask to borrow their templates. The hole shapes are oval and trying to bet them right on a curved part of the nose would be a nightmare. All that Dax asked me to do was pay for the postage to return them, although I did place another order at the same time.

Re: Front and Rear Overriders

Hi Bigundies, thanks for the info, I have the templates from Dax and the holes line up OK. I agree that drilling without them would be no fun.

When you say 3/4 inch gap is that from the nearest part to the body as the nose of the shell is angled away behind them?

thanks

Re: Front and Rear Overriders

Yes basically I was told that if you bend your middle finger and can get the nuckle of the finger through the gap, its too big. This being the gap at the top of the hoop in the middle of the nose. If anybody disagrees, please comment. I don't think it matters too much but 1/2 to 3/4 inch works well.

Re: Front and Rear Overriders

Now you tell me!!!! Templates available from Dax!!!!!

Doh spent all weekend measuring, looking drilling , filing and now I find there is a template!!!

Oh well never mind out with the filler!!!

Must admit looks okay but needs a little fettling.

I have put a nut before and after the upstand helps with the alignment or so it appears.

Regards

Re: Front and Rear Overriders

I only found out about the templates after reading Mr Dean's Build series in KC mag. I asked Simon when I was at Dax if I could borrow them. Makes it a hell of a lot easier!!

Found that Dax are very helpful IF you know the right questions to ask!!

Will be sending them back to Simon next week if anyone else needs them?
