Underslung exhaust

Hi Guys

Has anyone put an underslung exhaust system on a Dax Tojeiro? If so does it reduce the clearance even more? Where did you get it fromWho made it?

Thanks

Martin

Re: Underslung exhaust

...Not that close.
The under side of the main chassis rails on a Dax are 5.5" from the ground, if you want to add 2.5" dia. exhaust tubing you are going to reduce this to less than 3" ground clearance.
To prevent this getting less you can shoulc fit "Hugger" type manifolds and run the system within the inner chassis rails and under the centre of the diff and then outwards and around the sides if the fuel tank so you can fit the silencers in the void behind the rear wheels.
By running the exhaust close to the centre of the car you can fix it closer to the under sdie of the car because it will rise and fall much less when the engine is revved and is makes avoiding speed humps (Not the full width ones of course) much easier.
Headman "Shortie" headers are about £150 a pair and all the rest can be made of off the shelf stainless tub with either off the shelf silencers or custom made ones.
Aren't you close to Shinybitz? He mad an underslung system for Mike Clark (mclark) with a Dax. His was a De Dion which doesn't help with ground clearance, the std. chassis gives a little more room around the sides of the tank.
