| Re: Dax side pipe installation Leave the headers loose at the engine then fit the side pipes. Once in place do up the bolts to hold the headers to the cylinder heads. A large rubber mallet can also be useful. Craig.

| Re: Dax side pipe installation As Craig says, I left just the end two loose. Make sure the insides of the collectors and the outsides of the headers are really clean as well. A thin film of oil may help just to get them on initially and will soon be burn't off. You think it's tuff to get them on, just wait till you've run it for a bit then try and get them off!!! Big rubber mallet does certainly help! :thumb: :thumb: Craig, sorry to bring it up again, but you're signature is still the same. You'll be running out of summer at this rate! |

| Re: Dax side pipe installation Is there anything easy! Head in hands. Nearly beaten with this one. I've spent so much money and I don't want to damage them by forcing with hammer. Why can't they just fit?????????????????????????????????????? I think Dax should come up and show me how they do it.

| Re: Dax side pipe installation Hi Bogster Have you tried heating the larger diameter pipe with a hot air gun or similar? Might be worth a try. Cheers. Clive

Try PM Dave Brooks. There has been a number of threads on this. Could be worth giving Dax a call and see if they, or Dave B, could video the job for you....errr us Stick it on a disk (DVD) and pop it in the post. I would even pay a reasonable sum for it! Dave B, how about 20% on this. Could work well for any difficult job!:thumb:

| Re: Dax side pipe installation DON'T hit them with a hammer!!! Have you tried all the headers in the respective collectors off the car to ensure they will all slide in smoothly? I made my own headers and they needed to be gently tapped on with the two end headers slackened off slightly but that was all. Don't use anything heavier than a rubber mallet or you will dent the collectors which you won't be able to knock back out! Have you tried both sides, and if so are they both the same? |

| Re: Dax side pipe installation :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: And some of you guys think I have a really good job! Colin. If you are struggling then you are doing it right. Oil or grease as said before, large rubber mallet (Fence post mallet might be good) and loosen the pipes on the head....................And an assistant to support the tail end of the pipe.:thumb:

Only asking as I have experienced my offside pipe working loose. Luckily it dropped off whilst crawling in traffic at 10mph. Only damage was my pride when white van man leant out the window laughed and called me a wa.ker. Pipes now secured with a self tapper bolt. (did sound good driving home with an open header though !)
