jag irs inner mounting bracket

Hi
Here is an update incase someone else needs to do this or finds it interesting.......
Back in july I needed to tighten the 4 bolts holding the inner mounting bracket to the diff. It seemed to be an axle out job but I made a couple of tools and was able to do the job with the wishbone and spacers in place.
Carlos was very interested in the idea because it makes shimming the rear axle easier and he asked me for a few drawings that he could put on his wwwebsite....

http://www.donostia.demon.nl/index_files/alignment.htm

As suggested on this forum I released the shocks and radius arm to reduce the load on the pivot shaft to make it eaesier to drift out and back in.

If you make the tools do ensure that they are about 4 or 5 thou under 5/8 inch.

hope it makes sense

cheers

phil

Re: jag irs inner mounting bracket

Hi Phil.
Good link.
I didn't read it all (Mainly because I'm 41 and retire in onlt 20 odd years).
Do the figures quoted only refer to one diff as the mounting faces onthe sides of the diff case can vary in taper front to back and distance apart slightly which would mean there is no "Cut and dried" set of meaurements for the shims used in each location.

Re: jag irs inner mounting bracket

actually I am only responsible for the tiny little .PDF file showing how I removed the inner pivot bolt with the axle in the car and the wishbones attached.
I intend to sort out the geometry on my car this winter as there seems to be too much negative camber at the front.

cheers

phil
