Dax Chassis Number

Hi,

On my Dax chassis number plate identification it has the following;

SA9 DAXTD15A 038 117

Do I use all of this for the vehicle identification or just some of it?

Thanks

Re: Dax Chassis Number

From memory you need to have at least 12 characters for a chassis number. I think the number stamped on my chassis started HaWK STSL CO **** ***. I omitted the HAWK from the chassis plate and application form. I remember Dave Reid, the examiner at Aberdeen checking his manual to confirm that I had used enough characters but I cannot remember him checking the plate against the stamping on the chassis as it is pretty faint and I thought it might be a fail. He only confirmed it with his paperwork.

Re: Dax Chassis Number

Thanks guys,

I just wasn't sure as the way it is stamped it's difficult to tell if it is all one code or several separate codes. Thats great, cheers. :thumb: :thumb:

Posted SVA application and cheque today! :drive:

Date requested is 1st March 2007 at Aberdeen test center

That should give me the winter to sort things out and make ready.

Nigel,

Started my build approximately May 2005. Working in the evenings and at weekends. I'm planning on using my donor car as the registration which will be an F reg. :drive: I can then look for private registration if I want one...Probably won't bother though.
Just keep ploughing away....before you know it you will be in my shoes.... crapping yourself over an eminent SVA test!

Re: Dax Chassis Number

Hi you all,

Regarding the vehicle sérial number, the european rules says that it must have 17 caracters,it's called the V.I.N. (vehicle identification number)

So all mass-production cars that have an european approval have this V.I.N.

Maybe,as their cars can be registered in some continental lands (germany, etc) DAX put 17 caracters serial numbers on them to make easier such registrations.

Take a look at a mass-production V.I.N.,you will see that are included some "strange" caracters (ZZZ on VW,many "0" on FIAT and others),that's just to "fill" the ante-V.I.N. rules serial number, and run it to 17 caracters.

Regards

Denis
