Ford master cylinder and servo

Hi Guys,

I am planning to replace my master cylinder with the Ford unit that is fitted these days.

I have the master cylinder and servo from I believe, although I`m not 100%, a 1992 escort orion, 1.4 with no ABS.

So my question is this, is there any way of identifing which one I definately have as I`d like to fit new seals etc before fitting it to the car. The only numbers I can see on the casting are 080619B on the end, and a large 23 underneath between the two bottom outlets. Can take photo`s if required.

Thanks guys,:thumb:

Re: Ford master cylinder and servo

I had a look at my Dax and I can't see those casting numbers on mine but the large 23 is there.

Maybe you could post a couple of pictures and I can see if it looks the same as my one.

Craig.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the reply, this is the only pic I have at the minute, can take more during the week if necessary.

Maybe my local Ford dealer would know it???

Re: Ford master cylinder and servo

The servo and the master cylinder look the same from what I can see of them.
I think Dax modify the push rod and then add a screw on clevis type fitting.
The Dax kit also comes with fittings that push into where your current fluid reservoir is and alows a remote reservoir to be attached higher up the bulkhead.

There are some nice pictures on this thread of the new clevis and pin arangement for the top of the pedal.

Gillingham

I could take some under bonet photos during the week if they would help.

I thought that white plastic cover on the servo shaft was for protection during shipping. I took mine off and threw it away. Hope it's not needed!

Craig.

Re: Ford master cylinder and servo

Hi Craig,

No I'm not sure what thats for, it maybe that mine will end in the bin too..

If you could take some photo's of under bonnet it would be great. I'm going to have to relocate my clutch master cylinder as it is next to the current servo. From what I've heard it mounted on top of the footwell ??

Thanks again,:thumb:

Re: Ford master cylinder and servo

err I assumed the white plastic thingy was to keep the push rod horizontal, I didnt get either of my servos from Dax and both came with the plastic and also a rubber cover that is usually disgarded

Er, dust....??

Looks like you have a very nice car there Craig!! Thanks for the photos, there a great help.

I'm hoping at the minute that my problem is just down to air trapped in the master cylinder.. cheers Barry..
