oil cooler, horns and thermostat help pls

Hi guys,
making a big push on the car towards getting the legendary engine in. Few things i need to do first though and this is where i could do with some assistance:
  • I've bought an oil cooler system and i need to see pics of how to connect it to the small air scoop at the front.
  • Need pics of where to attach the 2 12V horns to the engine bay
  • Pic for attaching the radiator thermostat to the bodyshell
As always your help is really appreciated and i'll stick up some pics after i've done the work as a reference to anyone else

Cheers
Si

Re: oil cooler, horns and thermostat help pls

Hi Sparticus,

If you have a look at our web site u'll see a number of pictures of how to run the pipes and fix the oil cooler. After much discussion on here we decided not to fix it at the top and just used 4 x 6mm cheese head bolts (going in from underneath) with nylocs on top. I think we also put a little bit of rubber matting between the cooler and the body to stop any rattles.

Horn - anywhere you can get it I think is the answer - ours is on the frontward facing face of the inner wheel arch - directly behind the headlamp bowls. Seems to fit ok.

Can't help on the thermostat - I think the one we've got is one of the europa ones which will go in-line in the top hose.

Hope that helps,

Jon

Si.
You have two holes in your engine bay cladding for the horn brackets to bolt through. (The only holes big enough for an M8 bolt. Also put your engine loom earth loop on one of these bolts.)

Re: oil cooler, horns and thermostat help pls

I've got twisted steel brackets that connect the top of the radiator to the inner wing panels.
I bolted the horns under these bolts on the inner wing end facing forwards. Sort of next to the radiator really.

Oil cooler was bolted through the bottom of the body and I made small aluminum plates to bolt on the top and then fibre glassed these under the bottom of the large radiator opening.

No pictures unfortunately but could get some tonight if required.

Hi Craig,

I put the horns on the chassis as per the pics, might help. :thumb: I have pics of the oil cooler installation that i can send you tonight.

I attached the thermostat control on the nearside wheel arch aluminium panel (drilled hole and installed)

Hi Colin - Its all looking very shiny. Great. I like the choice of blue for the operating bits in the engine bay. What colour is it going to be painted?

Jonny,

I'm going for a blue as per the attached, without the stripes. Anyone happen to recognise this car? I'd like to find out the colour code.
