Sierra Steering Column

Hi All

I'm having a real problem getting hold of a Seirra Steering Column.

I am building a Dax De Dion and need a 1982 - 87 1.6L complete with all switch gear, cowlings, bushes and ignition key.

Can anybody help?

Don't forget you now have the option of using the electric power steering column from a Corsa.
Even if you don't use the electric part at the moment it may be easier to obtain.

I was lucky in that a friend was breaking an old sierra and he gave me the column out of that................however, I then found out later one the column switch assemblies was broken and he had already thrown away the plastic cowlings................ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

I went around every scrappy within 20 miles and couldn't find any early sierras anywhere. I think you can use the later column with the round hazard warning lamp as an alternative.

If you are interested I bought the cowlings eventually off e-bay and am changing my dash for a more authentic 427 S/C look so could sell you the cowlings if you are interested.

Good luck with the hunt!!

Hi,

You can still buy the cowlings from your local Ford dealer. I think they were about a tenner each and have to be ordered. You can also still get the indicator switch gear but for some reason not the windscreen wiper switchgear. The steering column is interchangeable with the column switchgear that have either round or square hazard buttons (i.e. I had a mixture of both to make one unit).
