sidepipe dimensions

Hi Guys, just about got the headers tacked in the right position, can anyone give me an idea of the gap required between the sidepipe and the chassis with the body off? I can guage approximately but if anyone has a build at that stage with pipes mocked up it would help. The other reason is I need to get the angle right because I am using 4 x 2" pipes into the engine bay which limits space against the chassis rail. On another note I have decided to change the high performance iron heads, they are a beautiful ported set but heavy! as we speak a set of Trick Flow street heads are being ported by the Big Ford Guru in the States, cant wait to get them. Dave

How you managing to get the header routing correct without the body on? It's one hell of a tight fit around the footwells and mine were done with the body on to ensure everything fit properly. The sidepipes were also tailor made to be snug along the side the body. PM "Mark" Fat Boy Northern, I'm sure he'll give you some advice.

From watching mine being made I can't see how you can get a nice job done without first fitting the body.

sidepipes

Hi kev, I had the body on to get the clearance by the footwells, which I have chopped back, not a lot of room with the big block so that was fun! once I was happy with the run of the back two on each side, I have the body up above the chassis so I can get on with other work wheeling the chassis outside, the distances I have asked for will get me in the ballpark with pipe/sleeve length. Dave

Hi Dave.
If you are refering to the height the tails of the headers are above the outer rails then between 3/4 and 1"

Dave, advised me to go for 1" when I built mine and it worked out just fine.

I mocked up the footwells in hardboard when I fabricated the headers, helped enormously!!

sidepipes

Thanks guys that helps, also the approximate distance between the sidepipe body and the outer edge of the chassis rail(body off) would be good. Thanks Dave
