Fule pipe location

Just started by Dax build and am wondering about the best route for the fule pipe from the tank. Over or under the diff? Under looks the best line but leaves the pipe vulnerable from underneath. Any ideas?

Hi Bob,

First thing are you going to be using a mech or electric fuel pump, and what engine are you fitting, i ran mine down the inside of the transmission tunnel drivers side see pics.

I will be running a SBC with mech pump.

Hope this gives you some idea.

Russ

forgot to add this pic, it shows the route of the flexible fuel pipe from the tank to the solid fuel line running down the chassis rail. As you can see it's under the diff.

It's one of DB's phot's i think.

Hi Bob, I did the same as Russ and ran the fuel lines over the top of the dif. Only difference is i ran my fuel cable down the passenger side (as far away from the elecrtical cable as possible for safety reasons). At the front i has to run it across the cross-members but it looks good and doesn't come into contact with anything (see pic below). I also ran my fuel pipe through a fuel filter as soon as it leaves the petrol tank.

Btw, are you in Scotland? (as in Loch lomond) If you are you're more than welcome to stop by and see mine any time you like.

FulePipe

Thanks Guys for yourn help. I borrowed your ideas and fixed the pipe below the diff. This measn there are 2 places were the pipe dips below the chassis. Here I have fabricated alloy shrouds to give protection.

Just to be different I went over the diff.

I came out the tank then ran to a fuel filter then straight into the electric fuel pump which is mounted next to the diff infront of the fuel tank on the body. This is actually higher than the fuel tank but I have not experienced any priming problems. I then routed the pipe down the chassis and through the plate with the two holes, under the propshaft.

I have a Chevy engine with the starter on the right hand side of the engine so it made sense to run the electrics down that side and the fuel line the other side.

Nice to see a standard Dax chassis being built amongst all those De-dion ones out there.

Fuel pipe looks OK to me.

It looks like Dax have changed the chassis again. That piece of box section you have under the prop shaft used to be a flat plate with two holes in it big enough to run the battery cable through one and the fuel line through the other. This can be seen on my attached picture.

Only thing I can say is with the plate added to the underside of the diff you have lost one of the most useful jacking points.

Craig.
