Spacer height for seat runners

Does anyone have the height of the spacers for the seta funners?

I'm fitting dax supplied runners/seats to a de-Dion chassis

Cheers

Warren

just to clear carpet, do not lift up due to height from base of seat to seat belt top fixing, for SVA test, Andy

Andy. So, the height would be about 15mm?

Bob

Re: Spacer height for seat runners

Hi Bob
just enough to clear carpet 10 to 15mm no more, you can always bring back up later, to adjust rake of seat. hope that helps.Andy

Andy,

You need drill away the fibreglass so that your spacers are sitting on the chassis seat brace below and not on the fibreglass floor. If you just set them on the fibreglass floor the runners will not travel well due to the floor being uneven. I used 10mm threaded bar instead of the bolts. If you instal 1 nut inside the runner and then thread two onto the outside of the runner and tighten them up it makes life a lot easier for installing the seat as the threaded bar won't spin as you tighten the bolt beneath the floor. Remember that you will need different lengths of threaded bar for front and back runner anchor points as you have to go through a box section for the front and the back anchor point is 10mm plate (approximately).

This cleared the underfelt and carpet nicely and still keeps your seat at the proper height to pass the SVA regulation for the angle of the rear seat belt anchor.

Hope this helps.

Re: Spacer height for seat runners

Hi Colin
thats one way to do it, my floor was not to bad because i packed the small gaps between body and chassis before hand using, made up glass packings strips. so there was no stress put onto body floor when fixing down, Andy

Hi Warren,

Slightly off topic I know but could you tell me the distance between the seat mounting holes on the runners please. I need this to work out how I am chopping the seats around that I bought!!

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon.
There are no pre drilled holes in the seat runners. You have to fit the runners, then drop the seat onto them and drill through the two at the same time.
I wouldn't entertain modifying your seats until you have the runners fitted into the car as the lower part of the floor tapers and seats that fit now may not fit the same when the runners are in. All to do with the innre wheel arch, transmission tunnel and the tapered in chassis rails behind the seat.

After you have done as Dave says the dimensions of the holes are as follows

The runners are 11" wide. The back plate I found the centre then drilled two holes each 3" out from this

The forward plate 2.5" each from the centre (to miss the lever)

Hope this helps

Warren
