If for some reason you do mean thermostat then I aplogise in advance for being an ar5e! Regards, Pete |

| You would be better off monitoring your diff oil temps than the gearbox if you intend to thrash your car around a track. Many racing Cobras run diff oil coolers, but very few run gearbox oil coolers.

| Oops, i meant temperature sender. I think the solution is to get a brass bit of bar and have someone turn it down and drill a hole through the centre and have the top with a 1/8 NPT female hole and then thread the bottom of it to the same size as the oil sump plug. The sectional diameter of the temperature sender is a couple of mm shorter than the thread so will give me more material when it gets down next to the external thread. What do we think? (sump is already full of oil and would be a pain in the ass to drain it all just and take it all off so i can weld bits to it). Si

I'm sure that your solution will work fine and as you say it saves having to take the sump off. Brass is a good thing to make threads out of as it has a sort of self lubing quality to it. Regards, Pete. |

| Hawk Cars can supply a union which is a "Bolt through" in the sump. No welding, just drill and tighten nuts. Only drawback is you will need to take the sump off but it is an easy job.
