Rear Track

I have the IRS chassis and 17 inch wheels supplied by DAX. But the wheels are tucked away inside the wheelarches (see pic). If you drop a plumb line from outside the arch, the horizontal distance to the outside of the tire is about 30mm. I'm not happy with spacers but that's what I'll have to do to bring the wheels out a bit more. I'll not be driving then car much or racing so the bearings will not suffer much. Does this sound like a sensible (perhaps the only one) solution? Thanks.

Bob

Hi Bob.
As the body drops when the car is fully built the track on an IRS will widen a little.
Also, the wheels at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions will need to be within the bodywork when plumbed from those positions.
Spacers shouldn'y be too much trouble is kept at a sensible thickness, but you might find it safer and not much more expensive to buy some deeper outer rims for your wheels from Image.

Rear Track

Dave. Thanks - good advice as always. I'll wait for the car to settle (engine from Brian Nichols arrives tomorrow) then consider spacers. Having just spent a fortune with DAX on wheels/tyres Icannot spend any more just now.

Bob
If you bought the wheels from Dax and they are not correct surely you have a case to have a word with them after all they will have no problem selling them to someone else.

It was the word "Case" that somewhat startled me.
Today has been no more depressing than any other (Barring the Dave Shrubsole news).

Hi Bob,
Where are you based? Any Dax problems give Bogster a PM. He seems to be one of the "Scottish" experts!
