Hi Nigel,
I used silicone hoses either side of stainless steel pipe for my bottom radiator/engine route on my 289 with Ford 302. Helps to keep the cost down!

Hi Nigel,

Sorry not noticed this before. We are using the 351W engine also with the Dax rad (albeit the old steel one rather than the new ali one but I suspect they are similar in design).

There are some pics on our website of this piece.

We came out of the water pump with a long legged 90 deg bend. This if positioned correctly, because of the angle of the pipe from the water pump heads downwards. A similar, long legged bend at the other end was used off the rad. Between the two we used a length of stainless pipe.

There are pics on the website. However, basically the s/s has a bend (cut and rewelded) at each end, each about 30 degs from memory, although the one at the water pump end is less than rad end. The bends are not straight either - the one at the water pump ends kicks by about 10 degs or so to the nearside. This then allows the pipe to go above the steering rack.

The straight bit in the middle then fixes to the chassis cross members at the front below the de dion beams. I made a mock up out of mop stick, a hot glue gun and a lot of trial and error. A friendly coded welder then made it up for me. It is very fiddly and time consuming, but does produce a very neat result in the end. It also keeps the pipes pretty much out of harms way.

The take off for the header tank was also welded into the bottom section of the pipe. I can take some pics of the mock up tonight if that would help.

Jon

Arrow Flexible Hose

hello Nigel, i have bought some flexible stainless steel hose for the this very job on my SBC dax like the stuff mentioned previously in this thread. It looks like a thick shower attachment hose. i have not fitted it yet and would be interested to see some pix of your installation if you have time to take some.

thanks

We have a slight problem in that you have a Chevy and mine is a Ford with the outlet in a completely different location. I followed Jonny T's description for the Ford and it worked a treat but not a lot of help on a Chevy .Sorry
