Exhaust headers/washer bottle clearance

Afternoon guys, could do with some help,

I'm playing around with some ideas for the washer bottle. Not keen on the plastic one that comes from Dax so planning to weld one up from ally. Was thinking of making one that "squares off" the footwell boxes where they slope upwards on the inner side (have dropped a pic of this area in my garage if you can't make sense of this rant!)

Problem is I don't know the exact route the headers take from the engine out to the wing and don't want to make something up only to find it clashes with either this or something thats fitted later on. If it works I'm thinking of doing something similar on the other side for a header tank.

Anyone got any photos of this area with the headers installed on a 350 SBC taken from the inside of the engine bay?

thanks as always for the help. Body went on this weekend, couldn't believe it, was expecting a real struggle but it just droppped straight into place. Somethings bound to be a bastard now to even things up!

Nice idea and I'm fairly sure there is nothing in the way over that side of the engine. I can take pictures later to confirm.

I found the easiest thing to do was to mount the washer bottle in the back next to the battery. I ran the tube through the bulkhead and along the transmission tunnel. I used copper tubing to prevent it getting squashed under the carpet. Works fine for me.
I then built a removable panel to cover the battery and the washer bottle in the boot which was then carpeted to match the rest.

Craig.

washer bottle

If you follow the dax build manual the header tank sits in that position, there is room for washer bottle on straight inner wings panels but not any of the angled ares of inner wings where headers go out through wings. hope this helps, Andy

Thanks Craig, if you get chance then I was kinda hoping someone would offer some pics!

Wasn't sure whether the rear pipe of each header might cross over the corner of the footbox slightly. Also if I do the header tank, need to think about where the lower outlet pipe exits the tank. I'll post some pics in a couple of weeks if I get this finished to a standard I'm not ashamed of!

Other reason for moving the washer bottle is a wife that is keen to drive the cobra when its done (wasn't expecting that, is this a good thing?!). However at 5 foot nowt am thinking clutch may be an issue! Remote servo mirroring the brake servo is the plan hence the need to clear room.

Good job you reminded me again.

Here is some pictures of the area in my car. Not very clear but the only things I have running through that area are the pipes that go from the reservoir to the brake master cylinder.

Thanks Craig,

appreciate it, thats really helped as the headers do seem to sit just above the bottom of the flat area. will need to be careful about siting the lower exit from header tank. Might leave that one until the headers are in.
