| You will need to put the shims on the top wishbone ( jag donor ) with at least three shims to the front of the top ball joint and one behind. Then check the castor angle using the machined face on the caliper mounting lugs as a flat surface. IIRC the correct castor angle is 6 degrees but I have been on the Peronis all night !!......... Cheers, Tony

| The Dax Manual states that with straight upper wishbones you start with 3 shims at the rear..... This gives me 6 1/2 degrees on the nearside and 6 7/8 on the offside , does this sound ok ? or is there an optimum setting Mark. |

The caster angle is the main setting that controls the self-centring effect of the steering. Too much angle will make the steering heavy and difficult to use, too little means that the steering won't self correct. (Basically the top and bottom pivot points for the front wheel upright are not in line vertically when viewed from the side of the car, the top one is "behind" the lower one, the angle that a line drawn between the two would form when compared to a vertical line is the "caster angle") Here is a good link that has pictures and words http://www.ozebiz.com.au/racetech/theory/align.html |

Many thanks for your clear explanations and your nice link. I did not do the relation between "castor" and caster |
