Question Radiator Type??

Hi Guys

I am looking into having my radiator re-cored after it being damaged by the cooling fan mounting tie's.

I have picked up from other threads that the Rover SD1 radiator is used in Dax's but not when an American Engine is fitted. I have a Chevy enigine, the build receipts for the car show that it is a Dax radiator fitted.

Does anyone know what type of radiator Dax would have supplied?

Thanks
Andy

Dunno about Dax's, but I have a 3 core SD1 Vitesse radiator in my car and it is perfectly OK for my 408 stroker. Key is in the 3 cores.

I think Dax started using their own design of radiator not long ago. I have got their aluminium rad and it is specially made for them by .......

http://www.dockingengineering.com/

Part number. DE DAX COBRA

Not sure who makes their copper rads though.

Any good radiator repairers out there should be able to order a core and re-core it though.
Make brackets to hang the fans on next time too! I have seen many rads damaged by the vibration from electric fans held on with ties.

Craig.

Used to have one of these in my DAX too, but after the third one, stones, birds, corrosion, I decided to have an alloy one made by RADTEC in Cannock. Eccellent bit of kit. Just sent them the old one with some notes on modification and they made it just like I wanted it.

Hi Andy, I had the exact same problem! the ties supporting the electric fan strained the cooling fins and gave way! thus Rad started leaking big time!!!

Dax Quoted my about £360 quid for an Aluminuim Rad, I just felt that was a bit beoned my budget! so I remembered a local firm in warwickshire who completely recored my rad and they put 2 support bars including metal pins to support fan, all for around 200 quid! works and cools really well, dead chuffed!! need any help just email me!

Cheers Doug
