Wheel Bearings for DAX

Can anybody advise on how I figure out what replacement bearings I need, both near and off side rear bearings?

Bearings

If you have them removed, (I presume you are talking about wheel bearings) there will be a part No. on the side. Just go to a bearing supplier & they will have them. Don't go to a car accessory shop or similar. Bearings are marked up at least 150% on retail. My sis-in-law used to work at a bearing company.

Hi Mike.
Your MOT and V5 need to say "Dax Tojeiro" in the vehicle description section otherwise the vehicle is illegally registered and would need its registration updating.
This sounds simple enough but this could mean that the car would need to be submitted for an SVA test. This again doesn't seem too bad, but if your car has not been through an SVA test then it is unlikely to be able to pass the test as it was probably manufactured before the test came into force. And would need some substantial modifications doing to bring it up to scratch.

I did see yout posts on Pistonheads and would have offered advice, but before I had seen the thread you had already bought the car.

Hopefully I Have miss understood what you were saying otherwise be prepared to go to battle with the DVLA in the none too distant future.
Unless you bought your car off a dealer in which case you can force them to correct the registration issue.

As for the rear bearings, you could give ward engineering (www.ward-engineering.co.uk) a shout and Ed will be able to sort you out straight away.

Dave, Thanks for the advice I now know the rear axel is a Jag xj6 so I can address the wheel bearings but the registration issue should still confusing me. I don't see how it could be a problem now as the car is completed and has been for approx 10 years, V5 seems ok with 10 years MOT's and the new ones as well, is there any other way I can come unstuck?

Hi Mike.
Does your V5 List "Dax" as the make of vehicle? If so you are fine. If not then you will have to prove to the DVLA that the car has been on the road for a number of years in its current form. ie. MOTs listing it as either a Dax or Cobra or Tojeiro etc. If the MOTs list it as a Jag or MG? etc. then you will not have enough evidence to show the car was being used before the SVA testing system came into effect and in oreder to correct the V5 you will be required to put the car through the SVA test.
