I purposefully don't open the bonnet at shows 'cos I'm not one for showing off. There are may other reasons for not opening your bonnet at shows, 'cos people tend to lean against your car and scratch the wings with zips and keys, stick their knee against your side vents and bend them I've even witnessed side vents pushed in breaking bonded glass. Although I've never heard of it on a cob, there is always the possibility of a jealous joe public touching something like swapping a lead over or jamming a lolly stick in your throttle. (seen that one done at a hot rod meet), simply tugging a cable. I tend not to open the bonnet just for show. Then again it saves hours cleaning and there are plenty of others too willing to show off what they've been doing down their garages whilst I've been cuddling up on the sofa getting jiggy with the missus. Make you right Andy, yes it's grubby under there, but do give a flying? Having said all that, it's always nice to see a shiny engine. I will promise to clean it when it's cooled down.
