yes Ive been painting calipers for years with hammerite smooth, never had a problem, covers good, quite chip resistant and good temp resist; also does mind petrol silt on it; dont know why hammerite dont market it as such!!

Handbrake adjustment; if you remove the adjustment screw and neatly file an additional slot in the screw at 90 deg to the factory one, you have much better fine adjustment.

To adjust, cable nice n slack, remove split pin screw in the adjusting screw until handbrake just slightly drags then back off to the nearest split pin slot (now you see why I file the 2nd slot LOL) and install split pin; repeat on other side and jobs a good un.

Do make sure the self adjuster and spring inside it are in good order and it all works or youll be adjusting it like this every five minutes!

I painted the callipers on my Range Rover about 3 years ago with Zinc rich primer and Halfords brand car paint the same colour as the vehicle.
Still look great and the dirt and dust just washes off with soapy water.

Is that a filler plug on the top face of the diff in between the 4 mounting bolt holes?
Never seen that before. Hope it doesn't stick up above the mounting face?

Craig.

I think I'm just very disappointed with the paint I chose in that case, ah well.

Yes that is the drain plug, it's just resting there, it does look like it's fitted though - strange, to remind me to refit it and put some LS oil in. The diff's just been sitting there draining the last few drops of old oil.

Ready to go back in now using my home made trolley and two scissor jacks, tomorrow maybe, I need some tea now!

Is there a torque setting for the four bolts at the top of the diff used to attach it to the chassis? I can't find one.

Cheers.

Youll be lucky if you can get a torque wrench in the with the body in place.

Do them up tight with a ring spanner then wire lock.

Where did you find that? I must have been looking in the wrong place.

Thanks.
