Duh! just drill from the other side of the engine compartment

Although that doesn't solve drilling inside the chassis. I'm still thinking about that. I really need a 6mm drill bit that will fit a Dremel. If I had a lathe I suppose I could reduce the diameter of the bit shank - but I don't have a lathe.

Cheers.

Andi.

It might, I see it's probably 107mm long which leaves me about 20-30mm for the drill bit in order to fit, I'll do some more accurate measurements.

Many thanks.

Andi.

I've managed to get the front brake pipes in and clipped. But the front nearside pipe seems to be rather too long, is it worth shortening or just leave it, maybe try to make a neater loop

Andi.
You will definitely have to shorten it without any loops, there's no way it will pass the SVA like that, perhaps another clip in the corner would also be advisable.

P.S I notice from the picture that the lower Fulcrum pin is put in from the rear, is that correct on a DAX ??? I only mention it as AK put there's in from the front with the nut at the rear.

Thanks Mike I thought I'd have to shorten it. No idea about the Fulcrum pin as I didn't build that bit I'll go and have a look at the manual.

Cheers.

Andi.

Edit: The manual shows the fulcrum pin going from back to front the way it has been done.

There is no reason it should fail the SVA. The pipe is secured at no more than 300mm intervals.
Would look much neater though.

To make life much easier you would be better off pulling that engine out so you can climb into the engine bay and do all the work you need.
There does seem to be a mindset that that there is an urgency to "Get the engine in" when in reality the engine is just a useless lump of metal unless all the other components are also fitted.
If you are planning on polishing up the cladding that will also be much easier without the engine or anything else fitted.

Mike. Is it actually possible to put the fulcrum pin in the other way around on the AK with the wishbones being straight?
They are this way on the Dax as the end of the pin/bolt is close to the steering rack gaitor and the nut end would foul.

The easy way:-

Mike

The lover pin is correct for the Dax because Dax use the original Jag steering arms on the upright and a rear mounted steering rack.

If the nuts were at the rear they would hit the steering rack as it moves.

Craig.

Dave

The only reason I said it will fail is that the pipe loop from the last clip to where it connects looks as though it could be longer than 300mm

Good, just thought I'd mention it, just in case.

What's a lover pin
