Dax steering column

First of all,
Merry Xmas and a Happy new year to all

Ok, I have just been trial fitting the steering column and brackets, and after reading many of the older posts have realised its possible i will have to remove some of the footbox. The trouble is the older post no longer have the attached photos to look at, so does any one have a couple of build photos showing the column from under the dash with the mounting brackets and possibly dimensions from corner of dash.

Thanks
Mark.

Hi Mark.

Basically the idea is to get the steering column as high and as far to the left as possible in the top off the footwell. The bracket that holds the support bearing on the engine side of the footwell still needs to be able to be bolted in place though.
When I did this I noticed the triangular section of the column hit the footwell top so I removed a section of the fibreglass to allow clearance. As I had stainless cladding on the engine side this is not visible from the engine bay.

I fitted the column then had to do some fine adjustment to allow the steering shaft to mate with the rack and not hit the header pipes.

I will try to get some pictures later if you like.

Craig.

Take a look here.

My FASTCO Engine just idling

Might help a bit. All brackets supplied by Dax. Longer exhaust clamps found at local motor factors.

Craig.
