Setting the suspension

Now that the SVA has been passed and the lights can be that little bit lower I've got to set the suspension up. Ride height is the only issue that I need to deal with I think so I will set that as Dax suggest (if the springs have settled sufficiently that is).

I'm going to take it down to track developments in the longer run and was just wondering, given that the springs will settle over time, how long to people recommend leaving it until taking it down to them for a proper set up?

Thanks,

Jon

Congratulations on passing the SVA. Now your done can you update your web site so I can steal all your idea's ? I had a chat with some of the guys at Dax regarding the ride height, they suggested placing the car on level ground and using a tape measure to establish a uniform height to the top of each wheel arch around the vehicle. Beyond that I have no useful advice to offer, but I can lend you a set of laser levels which make the job easier. Cheers Andy

I'm badgering the website designer to update the site as soon as possible - I know it is pretty out of date at the moment - sorry.

Ride height I think (from memory) is set by measuring, on level ground to a point on the chassis behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels. Not sure that the wheel arches would be the best way of doing it and certainly not the method set out in the manual.

Congratulations on the SVA Pass . Looking at your and Bogsters website initially spurred me on and has been on great assistance when you need to see something .

Aye I agree the method I described is pants, but it gives the car a uniform gap between the top of the wheels and the top of the wheel arch. I set the suspension up as described in the manual then lowered the rear a further 1/2 an inch.

Looks good, but it will probably handle like a bag of turnips. I'll let you know as soon as I can get it on the road, need some shiney bits and the interior

Is that a month of driving wilf as it has been much more than a month on the springs with a full tank of petrol so far?

Wilf, is that just the weight of the car or with use on the road? I was led to believe the car had to be driven, but I don't know.

OK Jonny got there first!!!

A month of being driven. About 500 to 1000 miles. No real science to this answer, just experience.
