Without that the weight of the pipe will twist the end cap round and twist the bracket off the side of the tail pipe.

I have a stainless nut welded inside my tail pipe and a hole drilled in the underside of the side pipe. A small stainless dome head screw holds it all in place.

There are various pictures of my sidepipes in the Cobra club Wiki.

Craig.
I had SS nuts welded inside the end cone too, that way you can get them off easy to re-pack.
No need to weld them up completely

Hi Rob,

PS1 is offshore Oil & Gas Station 1 located about 50 miles West of Doha in the Gulf. I've been going there over the last 17 years, usually about 4 times/year so its like a second home to me. It has many Brits working there and some have interesting cars - Mustang, Corvette for example. If I'm not offshore then I am in the Marriott, should be out later this year, I will give you a heads up next time and we could meet for beer.
Worst I have experienced is 48 degrees with about 95% humidity so I know what you are going through.

Take care
Rob

Geezer,

Pleased to say that Mike Huddart is going to collect my car from Glasgow and take to his workshop in Cheshire to re-build my engine, this time with new cylinder heads. Dave Brookes has kindly agreed to sort my exhaust at the same time
Cheers
