IVA Compliant Seats

Chaps

After some advise, my build has taken longer than anticipated , at the end of last year I purchased my interior from Richfield, with the change to IVA my seats clearly are not going to make the grade without headrests and I understand they will not be tall enough, are there any work around for this? Can I raise the seats and use a pads on the roll bars? Or could I use some old second hand seats from something to get through and then change them back?

Unless someone on here has an IVA compliant set fitted they intend to change and a deal can be done, I don’t fancy splashing out on another set of new seat unless I can help it.

Cheers
Simon

Not too much you can do - the seats compliance for IVA is quite clear. headrests are a must, no question there.
I understood that only if the seats are fixed, that is non adjustable, can you get away with pads fixed to the roll bars. Anything else the headrest must move with the seat.
I am sure none of our members would condone swapping IVA compliant parts for non compliant parts after passing IVA !!! That surely is not correct - but perhaps there is someone out there with compliant seats who may loan them to you so you can see what the installation should look like ??

Hi Simon

If you intend to keep the head rests, Post IVA (which you should really) then give Richfield a call back.

They may be able to take your existing seats and modify them to accept the new headrests. Might be a fair bit cheaper than just replacing them.

A possible option would be to get some stainless tube bent to bolt to the seat base, run up the back of the seat, form a hoop and run back down to bolt to the seat base again. This would give you a mounting point for the headrest cushion which could then be made up in whatever style you like.

Option two would be to bolt the seats directly to the floor so there is no adjustment and mount cushions on the roll bars if fitted. The height can be adjusted by bolting some box section or similar to the floor first then bolting the seat to that or through it. Although if your as tall as me you'll need to tie wooden blocks to your feet to reach the pedals.

Option three fit new seats.

Thanks for the swift replies,

Don't get me wrong I don't want to cheat the IVA system but also don't want to cheat myself out of another £400+ - I spoke to Interior seating and the seats are completly diffrent - frame - dimentions etc so it's basicaly a new seat.

by the sounds of it removing the runners for packers and fixing headrests to the roll bars could be the way to go!

It's going to Gary at Sidepipes in a couple of weeks for sidepies and SS roll hoops (Dax chrome jobs i've got are shocking quality) so I may get some brackets welded on the dax roll hoops.

Failing that - I'll buy a new set and sell them on.

Cheers

Simon.

Simon, I got through SVA so didn't have the headrest problem, but really didn't get on with the Dax seats. I'm replacing them with Cobra Roadster 7's as recommended by Gareth08, first one is in.

The fit nicely with the Cobra runners but I had to fit a cross bar to use the existing subframe holes.

I got them from Sportseats4u who price them in pairs a bit cheaper. Delivery was a couple of weeks as they are ordered from Cobra.

Thanks Andi

I’ll take a look – Agree on the Dax fibreglass seats, that’s why I bought the Richfield metal framed – they suited my seemingly large rear end

But if anyone out there does have any Dax IVA seats for sale or hire!! give me a shout.

Cheers
Simon

I went for the Richfield seats with headrests but soon converted to a headrest on the roll bar as per GD standard. Not sure what GD are doing for IVA.
My seat, even though it is on runners, might as well be fixed as it is always fully back so if you are the only driver you could go the fixed seat route.

I do have two headrests in grey that could be borrowed to check.
