If it were me, I would make a PTFE, nylon or some such material as a template that wont mind getting wet in the overall shape of the rear light you want to use.
Fix them in the place you want them on the rear, making sure they fit flat all around, use a gasket as well.
Then shape the rear, if required up to the rear lights, more overly working away from the lights shaping into the wing, and remember you need to loose the shape right into the wing and not just local to the light to make it look ok.
You might have to build the mounting pad on the wing where the light sits if you cant get the shape right, we have had to do this before. Chopped glass mat/resin is good for this, although I wouldnt go over 5-10 mm.

Tell you what as you are near me if you go this route let me know when you are ready and I will come over and show you how to do it
That is incredibly kind of you and we will def tak you up on your kind offer! Is always good to see others projects and the decisions they made, and any help is always really appreciated

No problem, just pm me when you get there and I can pop over, or whenever you are ready or want a bit of encouragement.
If you can build a Cob the you can shape and paint it, you have the skills.

Can I come and watch and we make it a bit of a masterclass? I'd love to go with the square lights on mine, too (I know, bought the wrong kit for authenticity, etc etc) and also have the square root of diddley when it comes to bodywork experience

    No problem there.
Back some time ago we did a demo class in the shop and some kind chap donated his Pilgrim.

We sent out an offer, fitted up, shaped and painted a car real time, and the owner was brave enough to let all and sundry have a go, with our guidance.
Did most of the work on a Saturday for all to have a go, then got it ready for the next stage on the following Saturday.

We had a great time, with the total amount of 4 people who came along, how sad was that, lots talked the talk, but none wanted to come along and walk the walk.
Anyway I digress, now problem, however make sure you defo want these because once we hit the body with a 40 and 80 grit long blade you won’t want to drive it till painted

I wasn't planning on driving mine before paint, anyway The gel coat is good but not perfect .. and the odd ripple (from the mould) bugs me no end. I can't speak for the original poster, of course

And wouldn't be looking to do it until the last week in October as that is half term so will be when I'm working on the snake.. Will give me time to make the lights... I think some are getting a little excited now arnt we? I don’t mind turning up at someone’s place locally and hitting the rear end to shape the wings a bit to fit a set of rear lights but not the complete car and if a few want to gate crash to have a look I don’t mind but you will have to ask the owner of the car/garage

I don’t have the space any more to paint commercially, at the moment I am restoring a 1966 GT Fastback Mustang and that is taking up a lot of time.

Kevin, I think the mail box is empty, don’t do new techie things, can’t even work out how to use this blackberry thing work gave me. Oh by the way any chance you can get me fresher’s ticket? mature student and all that
