Fuel pipe & Battery cable layout for Dax

Started the Dax build in Sept last year and almost have the rolling chasis complete. But before the body goes on I want to clip the battery cable and fuel pipe in place. According to the Dax build manual the fuel pipe goes down the off side inner chasis rail and the battery cable down the inner near side rail. Thats all very well but where do you route these arround the backbone brace and around the back axle? Can anyone help me here?

RE: Fuel pipe & Battery cable layout fo...

Hi Richard,

When I built my DAX (1989 MkIII Chassis) with a RV8 I waited until the body was on before I fitted my battery cable permanently.

With the body on I made a small hole just above the chassis rail into the drivers side footwell. With a grommet in the hole the cable can be passed through and then it is then immediately behind the starter motor connection. The cable then runs alongside the driver seat in the crease of the bodywork (this will be hidden under the carpet when they are fitted) and then up the rear bulkhead.

You can then make a hole and grommet it so that the cable passes into the boot at a height that places it just above the flat section of the boot moulding above the diff. The cable can then be run over to where the battery is situated.
To keep the cable in place inside the car make (or buy) some small cable clips and screw these down over the cable for neatness.

Kirk
